Banner of Owain Glyndwr (1349-1416), the last Welsh born Prince of Wales, who fought against king Henry IV of England. Owain Glyndwr was educated in England, and fought for Richard II of England against Scotland and France.
Richard II was deposed and executed by Henry IV, and in 1400 Owain Glyndwr proclaimed himself Prince of Wales, and led the rebellion against the English. Although lasting several years, with various battles and skirmishes, the Welsh rebellion eventually ended with the death of Henry IV, and royal pardons being granted by his son king Henry V.Owain Glyndwr
